Carrying on our daily digest of inspiring women as a special tribute to International Womens Day this coming weekend, our second jaw dropping, inspiration is Lorraine Pascale.

She was spotted by the same agent who had found Naomi Campbell and moved to New York where she achieved recognition as the first black British model to appear on the cover of American Elle.

Regardless of her amazing modelling career, it didn’t stop her planning for the future. Clever chick. She tried a few different career paths, including hypnotherapy and she even worked as a mechanic for a while. Still in 2005, she turned her hand to cooking.  She has always loved to cook and so continued to become a fully qualified chef with many a celebrity fan.

She has a number of successful TV programmes, numerous books and her very own cake shop to her name with Selfridges as her first client, no less!  We call her the queen of reinvention.

Lorraine, we salute you!
