Winners Announced at the Good Afro Salon Awards 2016

Exchanging the red for the pink carpet – NoScrunchie’s signature colour, the glamorous evening was hosted by celebrated journalist Sue Omar and attracted more than 100 guests including the UK’s top Afro hair salons, as well as press and digital influencers.

Hundreds of votes were cast by regular users of,  the UK’s only Afro hair salon directory and review website to find the nation’s experts and outstanding talent in the art of Afro hair. NoScrunchie was founded in 2013 by Leillah Sekalala with the the Good Afro Salon Awards an extension of the valued and popular website, representing independent Afro hair salons that deserve recognition and recognises the relationship between clients, stylists and salons.

Clients nominated in their droves for their favourite salons and stylists via in the nine categories. “There were some incredible salons in the running, but our members  decided on the deserving winners across our 10 categories” says Leillah.

Highlights of the night were also special guests including Ade Hassan, Founder of Nubian Skin and Nisha Taylor from Raising UR Standards who gave inspirational speeches.
